Collapse Support

An opportunity to help conduct the meeting

We need a deeper bench! We're asking experienced members if you would like to help us conduct a Collapse Support meeting.

Have you attended at least six meetings and feel comfortable with our format? Would you like to be a back-up assistant on days when only one Convener is available? This would involve: admitting people from the Zoom Waiting Room; posting the meeting format and prompt questions into the Chat; guiding the group through a brief Grounding; keeping time for each person's two-minute Check-in and five-minute Circle sharing; setting up Breakout Rooms (when there are double figure attendees); and moderating a Breakout Room to ensure everyone gets a turn and that there is a short pause between each sharing.

We can help you master the technical details! If you would like to help, please email us: welcome@collapseclub.com

Regular Weekly Meetings

Every Wednesday and Thursday, we meet online to share our experience of living with collapse. We talk about our feelings, changes we are making in our lives, and what we are discovering. We find it healing to be with other people who see what we see and feel what we feel. Please join us! The Wednesday meetings are afternoon in North America (5:30pm Pacific time). The Thursday meetings are evening in Europe (7pm UK, 8pm Central Europe, 11am Pacific). Visit our Meeting Calendar for the time in your zone. Join the meeting at https://meeting.collapseclub.com.

Early notice: time change week of 25th October

The clocks are changing — in Europe on 25th October, and in North America on 3rd November. Our Collapse Support meeting on Thursday, 29th October will follow European time and, therefore, for people in North America will be ONE HOUR LATER, by the clock. The next week, the two meetings will be back to their regular clock times in both places (except for Australia and New Zealand, which are their own special, complicated case.) We'll mention this again as the time gets closer.

Denn Bro brings his long experience as a health-care worker to a consideration of community health in the challenging conditions of a post-collapse society. How can we take care of people when the modern systems of civilization have ceased to function? How do we make do without antibiotics, X-rays, sterile equipment, and anesthetics?

It's not an easy situation, but Denn believes that with basic knowledge, improvisation, and "common sense," we can find a way.

Next meeting, Saturday 3rd October: A systems approach to emergency preparedness, with David B.

When infrastructure fails, we are exposed to the harsh requirements of Nature without the protective machinery of civilization. We must maintain our basic needs—water, sanitation, food, medical care, shelter, energy, communication, and transportation—without the fossil-fuel powered systems we usually depend on. How can we create temporary substitutes for the systems of civilization? What must we do to endure the disruption of a disaster and recover to something like normal?

Please join the Solidarity Prepping Group on Saturday 3rd October at 11am Pacific time for a presentation from David B. We'll also discuss starting a Prepping Work Group on alternate Saturdays. Please visit our Meeting Calendar for the time in your zone. Please join the meeting at https://meeting.collapseclub.com.

"Disaster Fatigue," the mechanism of collapse

A plausible definition of collapse is when you can't recover from disaster any more, because there are too many disasters. This article discusses "disaster fatigue," caused by repeated floods across the U.S.
