Borrow'd, for sharing

Our presenter this fortnight will be Ike Khurgel, the creator of Borrow'd, an open-source, nonprofit online platform to help people share within their communities. Their slogan is "Together, we have everything!"

Here's what Ike tells us about himself and the project:

Ike Khurgel spent about 15 years inside big institutions building sustainability capabilities. Somewhere along the way he got less interested in greening the growth machine, having come to see the growth-and-profit logic of our current system as the root of the problem. While grappling with the idea of collapse and what comes next, he landed on a simple idea: what if we just bought less and shared more?
Borrow'd is a nonprofit, open-source, peer-to-peer sharing platform that lets a community pool the resources it already has. You lend and borrow within groups you trust, so the neighborhood becomes the inventory instead of the store. It's mutual aid with a bit of infrastructure behind it: less money flowing out to buy redundant stuff, more capacity flowing sideways between people who'll need each other when things get thin.
It's fully open-source, built under a 501(c)(3) structure. No extraction, no data harvesting, no growth mandate. The point isn't to scale a company, it's to make sharing normal again at the scale where resilience actually lives, which is people who know each other.

We hope you can join us for what's sure to be a fascinating presentation and discussion! (The session will be recorded and posted on YouTube for later viewing.)
